China Approves COVID-19 Vaccination for Children Aged 3-17

Cui Gang, a second-level inspector of China’s CDC said at a press conference held on June 11th , that the state has approved the emergency use of the new coronavirus inactivated vaccine for people aged 3 to 17 years old. According to the epidemic situation,  prevention and control needs and the characteristics of specific populations, China will organize experts to study and formulate unique policies for vaccination of people of this age group.

After obtaining conditional marketing approval for the inactivated vaccines developed by the Beijing Research Institute of Sinopharm Zhongsheng and Beijing Kexing Zhongwei Co., Ltd., they continued carrying out expanded clinical trials for people aged 3 to 17 years, and accumulated more data. These data are reported to the relevant state departments in a timely manner, and after careful review and verification by experts, it has fully been proven that the inactive vaccine is safe for use in the population aged 3 to 17.
