China’s State Council’s Joint Prevention and Control Mechanism held a press conference yesterday (August 4) to introduce the situation regarding the further strengthening of epidemic prevention and control.
Liu Haitao, Director of the Department of Border Inspection and Management of the National Immigration Administration, said at the press conference that based on preliminary work, China will strengthen the entry and exit management at it’s borders as follows ;
1. At the air port, special inspections of overseas flights will be implemented, the inspection of entry and exit personnel strictly enforced, and management of personnels in the management area of the entry and exit port strictly controlled. At sea ports, strict management measures for ships and personnels on international voyages , and measures such as non-essential non-landing, non-boarding, and non-docking implemented. At land ports, strictly implement the policy of “passenger-passenger”, entry and exit management and epidemic prevention management measures, maintain the highest level of prevention and control on the front line border, strictly inspect and control border gates.
2. Strictly restrict the cross-border movement of non-emergency and non-essential personnel. Further strengthen publicity and guidance, strictly examine and approve the issuance of citizen entry and exit permits, and temporarily not issue ordinary passports and other entry and exit documents for non-essential and non-emergency exits.
3. Severely crack down on cross-border illegal and criminal activities. Intensify the fight against crimes that interfere with the management of the country’s (border), strictly investigate and crack down on illegal and criminal activities of smuggling, and resolutely prevent the epidemic from entering the country through illegal immigrants.
4. Strengthen law enforcement cooperation with neighboring countries and regions. Through joint patrols and joint law enforcement with the border defense, entry-exit, and immigration management departments of neighboring countries and regions on land, the management of border management areas will be strengthened to jointly crack down on illegal and criminal activities such as illegal border crossings.
