It is reported that the electronic driver’s license will be implemented in phases across the country and in full by 2022.
How to apply for an electronic driver’s license?
The license will be issued through the nationwide unified “Traffic Management 12123” App. Drivers in relevant cities can log on to the “Traffic Management 12123” App and follow the prompts to apply .
Note: The applicant’s driver’s license should be within the validity period. If the driver’s license has been detained, temporarily detained, failed to undergo physical examination after the expiry date, not examined after the expiry date, or announced to stop using it, it will not be possible to apply for an electronic driver’s license.
What are the uses of electronic driver’s license?
It is understood that the electronic driver’s license is unified across the country and generated in real-time through the national public security traffic management electronic license system, which dynamically displays the status of the driver’s license , model changes and traffic violations . The electronic driver’s license adopts special encryption anti-counterfeiting technology, which can effectively prevent tampering and forgery, so as to ensure authenticity, uniqueness, safety and reliability
When handling traffic control services, drivers can present their electronic driver’s license and there is no need to submit a paper driver’s license. However, if the driver’s license needs to be detained, the paper driver’s license is still required .
For insurance claims, rental of vehicles, and job recruitment, drivers can present their electronic driving licenses, and relevant units can verify their driving qualifications online.
Since June 1 this year, the Ministry of Public Security has organized three pilot cities to issue electronic driving licenses : Tianjin, Chengdu, and Suzhou. At present, more than 2 million people have applied for it. Starting from September 1, 28 cities began promoting the use of electronic driving licenses.
The 28 cities include: Beijing, Tianjin, Shijiazhuang, Changchun, Daqing, Shanghai, Wuxi, Suzhou, Yancheng, Taizhou, Ningbo, Jiaxing, Nanchang, Jinan, Qingdao, Changsha, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Nanning, Chongqing, Chengdu, Mianyang, Zigong, Nanchong, Guiyang, Kunming, Xi’an, Yinchuan.
In the next step, electronic driving licenses will be implemented in phases across the country one after another, and will be in full use nationwide by 2022.
