At about 15:50 on February 15, a foreign passenger went to the Hefei Xinqiao airport police station for help , “My mobile phone is missing, please help me!” the expat said in English.
The police communicated with him throughout in English as he could barely speak Chinese .They inquired about the details of the lost cell phone and his time of arrival at the airport . It is understood that the Expat, who goes by the name BABAYEV/AYDINMR , is from Azerbaijani, and was flying from Hefei on that day . He took a taxi in the urban area of Hefei and got off at the airport departure Gate 4 before realizing that his phone was missing.
Upon inquiry, neither the terminal cleaning nor the lost property management found the lost cell phone. Since the Expat did not remember the license plate number of the taxi he took , but only knew that the car was white, and also because every passenger was wearing a mask, it was difficult for the police to find the phone. Still , the police did not give up on the search .
They screened surveillance videos and arriving passengers one after the other one and based on the time when the Expat arrived the airport , the police came to the conclusion that the phone was most likely with the taxi driver. They immediately checked surveillance footages to find the license plate number of the taxi and got in touched with the driver.
According to the driver , the mobile phone which had been ringing , was in the back seat corner and sounded low. He said , until the police dialed his phone ,he had no idea of the lost mobile in his taxi. The phone was recovered and handed to the Expat who was very appreciative to the cops .
The police remind passengers to take good care of their luggage, and note down especially the license plate of the car you take, so as to avoid inconveniences.
